A poster advertises the Halvergate Steeple Chase
to be held 19th March 1840.
"A handsome Silver Cup to be presented by the spirited landlord
S. Smith of the Steeple Chase Inn.
There was also a silver cup for Poneys (sic)
and a further Match for TEN POUNDS over the Poney Ground."
In 1846 Helena Smith has moved to the Hare & Hounds.
