COCKATRICE 1861
CHEQUERS 1865, 1871, 1875, 1888, 1891
Wednesday 7th February 1934 - The licence was transferred from the late
Mr. Edward George Cubitt to Lieutenant-Colonel Rushbrook, on the behalf
of the trustees of the Langley Hall Estate, the owners. It was said that
no intoxicating liquor had been sold at the house for Twenty
Years. Superintendent Fuller though it ridiculous that the
licence be continued. The Clerk said that as long as the owners were
willing to pay 5s a year, there would be no objection. The licence
transfer was granted with the Chairman hoping that the house would be
properly conducted, causing laughter in court.
