Innkeeper.
On 15th July 1709, the assets of innholder Robert Collier
were assessed by the appraiser, John Witherby. His dwelling
included a Hall, Parlour, Store Room, Back Kitchen, Cellar, 2 Parlour
Chambers, Hall Chamber, Kitchen Chamber, Chamber over Store Room, and
Yard. The contents of the Cellar included Beer, value £1, there
were 40 bottles
value 8 shillings and 24 black and brown Pots, value 2 shillings. He had
£7 14s 3d in cash,
recoverable debts of 15 shillings, his wearing apparel was worth £1 10s
and his total inventory came to £35 14s 1d. |

In the first day of sale of the Harleston Brewery,
30th June 1828, Mr. Smith is occupant of a `House and Shop'. Mr. L.
Smith died 18th December 1828, age 45 and leaving a wife and two
children. Then described as a publican. |

Beerhouse keeper - Body of a female infant found in
a pond on the premises, 16th February 1857. (One report of this event,
24 Feb 1857, names Mrs Beare as the person who discovered the body and
further names the house concerned as the TWO BREWERS. However Robert
Mason is continuously given as licensee of the TWO BREWERS from at least
1836 to 1869 and Mr. Beare is at a beerhouse / beer retailer 1845, 1850,
1854 and 1857 ) |
