For Sale by Auction Wednesday 1st July 1761.
Described as the Ancient and Well-accustomed Publick House, near Reddenhall Church and on the London Road. A Barn and 10 Acres included.


Auctioneer gave location as Redenhall with Harleston when Lot No. 1 in the sale of Harleston Brewery properties 3rd July 1828
Included a Bake-office, Barn, Stable, Cow House, Yard, Garden and three pieces of Meadow and Arable Land.
The Coach-house and Stable standing in the meadow behind the Barn, and a Right of Passage thereto being on Lease for the residue of 99 years, granted in 1790, by the Reverend Gervas Holmes (deceased).

Location given as Wortwell 1854.

Full licence removed to Scratby CALIFORNIA TAVERN 2nd September 1937.

Note in licence register says "Closed. No explanation from brewers. Believe licence surrendered for a new licence out of this district" .
A second note says "Confirmed 1938"

( A fire at premises formerly known as the Yew Tree, occurred on Saturday 29th July 1944. The fire was confined to outbuildings and garage belonging to Mr. H. Mains. Valuable plant, instruments and a car were lost. Part of the building destroyed, dated from 1580. The main house was not involved.)
