Buried at West Dereham, his gravestone records that he had been
a soldier in the 2nd Imperial Guard and was the last known survivor of
the retreat from Moscow in 1912 |

Said to have opened in late 1700's
It was reported 4th September 1875 that the Marquis Townshend had closed
the Buck, the only public-house in the village.
(The Buck standing on the Raynham Estate as did the
Greyhound at West Raynham and the Horse Shoes at East Raynham, both were
also closed.)
Soon after, Morgans Brewery established the new Buck in cottages which
had been built in 1786, the original Buck becoming Mr. H. G. Roy's
general stores and Post office by the 1930's..
