It was said that landlord John Spraggins was "mad drunk" on 13th June 1894 and was abusing all his customers. He stripped off his coat and waistcoat, threatening to punch a customer's head.
All charges relating to the event were dismissed on Monday 2nd July 1894.
It transpired that Spraggins had been married that day "which possibly accounted for his exhilaration". His bride had left the house with a black eye and did not return for several days.
