As 1871 census.
( Monday 27th September 1865 - Thomas Johnson, labourer of Wilton, was
charged with stealing a spade, value 5s, the property of Galloway
Butcher of Southery.)
( Monday 23rd January 1871 - Galloway Butcher, beer-seller was charged
by Henry Firth, of Hilgay, grocer of stealing, on that same day,
one pound of tobacco, valued at 4s. Committed for two calendar months)
( Monday 16th March 1874 - Galloway Butcher of Hilgay, labourer, charged
by farmer John Howe of breaking down a rail fence at Hilgay on 7th
March. Paid costs of 4s 6d upon the charge being withdrawn.)
