Only found in Norfolk directories of 1900 & 1904, with location as Hockwold
Fen.
(In 1883 Mr. Palmer appears to be at this (Norfolk) location, but is only recorded
as a farmer. In the 1911 census he is again recorded as just a farmer at
Hockwold Fen.)
Note:-
In Suffolk directories of 1892 and 1900, Kent Palmer is given as a farmer and innkeeper of
the Green Dragon, Lakenheath, as well as in the 1901 census,
then aged 58.
On the c1900 OS map, the Green Dragon is shown to be south of the Little
Ouse in the Norfolk Fen, but beyond the Union and Rural District
Boundary and consequently in Suffolk. Hockwold is to the north and Lakenheath to the south. This appears to be the same house as known as
the Staunch in Norfolk. The river is crossed by a Stanch (flood barrier)
close to the public house.
