Lot no 40 in sale by auction 14th to 17th September
1841 of the Coltishall Brewery.
Copyhold sold to Mr. Springfield for the sum of £450.
Sign built into wall facing river has a date of 1897 above.

Then in occupation of William Cook as undertenant to Mr. Bullard.
Two Cottages occupied by Robert Kings and .... Palmer, another un-occupied
Cottage and a Blacksmith's Shop occupied by .... Sandeman also in this lot.
It was reported that Mr. A. Lowder, landlord of the Swan Inn, Horning,
rescued a man from the river on 19th July 1900.
The man was a member of the Norfolk constabulary who had been fishing
with a colleague. "His fishing partner seemed unable to render any
assistance".
