Wednesday, 3rd January 1872 - accused of receiving one cwt. of stolen pollard, worth 7s. Watling had paid a man named Empson either sixpence, or a shilling and some beer for the pollard. Empson had already pleaded guilty to stealing the material and had been sent to prison.
Charges against Mr. Watling were dismissed.
