Le STRANGE ARMS HOTEL

On Wednesday, 31st October 1855, all of the Live and Dead Farming Stock, Agricultural Implements, Neat and Good Household Furniture, Excellent Featherbeds, Glass, China, Earthenware and Kitchen Requisites, the property of Mr. John Harrison, were to be Sold by Auction since he was about to leave the Inn.
The areas within the building, where furniture was to be sold, were described as;
Passage, Dining Room, Large Parlour, Small Parlour, Bar, Sitting Room, White Bed-room, Brown Bed-room, Drab Bed-room, Blue Bed-room, Passage, Back Bed-room, Lower Bed-room, Kitchen and Dairy.
Livestock included, 3 Cart Horses, 2 Cows, 8 Neat Stock, 3 Calfs<sic>, a Sow, 8 large Pigs, 70 shearing Sheep, 47 Ewes, 2 Tups and 64 Lambs.

The Candlelight Grill is open until 11.45 each night and the new Oak Room bar has been acknowledged to be the finest bar of its kind in the district ' - as 1967/8 guide book.
