Owned by Hagens Brewery to November 1780, when estate sold to William Hardy.
Occupant given 4th November 1780 as Robert May at a rent of £6.
In 1808 the resident of Letheringsett Hall wanted the road moved away from
his property since it appears that passing horsemen used to rattle his
windows with their whips as they passed by. The road was redirected which
accounts for the sharp bend by the current pub. Part of the old Kings Head
was demolished and a new house erected further south.
The difference in road layout can be detected by comparing the Faden map of
1797 with the Bryant map of 1826.
Morgans sales for 1960 were :-
45 barrels of beer
10 spirits (gallons)
Immediate closure recommended by S&P report, prepared for Watney
Mann, June 1969.
Today a very popular house, especially during the summer weekends where
extensive grounds provide space for all.
Nominated in 2002 for the Children's Food Pub, the Village Pub
and Family Pub awards.
