In 1841 census Joseph Tuck, age 55, is given as an agricultural labourer with wife Elizabeth - no mention of beer - address The Street. Joseph Tuck is a beer seller, age 68 in 1851 and at a beerhouse in 1854 In 1861 census he is age 77 and only given as an agricultural labourer with wife Elizabeth (78) - no mention of beer - address The Street (Died Q2 1868 - age 85 ?) ~ In 1881 John Ringwood, age 65 is a beer retailer at The Street. (He had been resident in Stiffkey according to 1871 census) ~ 17.08.08 - Mark Igoe advises :-
The bus stop on the main
road is at Dog Corner, so I guess the pub that Ringwood had was probably
so named and presumably sited there.
