Friday 30th September 1904 - Accused
of assaulting sheep-dresser John Clarke on 7th September. A fight had
started outside the house and whilst Southgate and Clarke were on the
ground, Mrs. Southgate came out of the house and struck Clarke with a
dustpan. Clarke knocked Mrs. Southgate down. After the commotion,
Southgate threatened Clarke with a gun. Following contradictory
statements regarding the events, charges were dismissed upon the payment
of 13s costs. |

dated 3rd March 1764.
Appears on Bryant's 1826 map.
For Sale by Auction, Tuesday, 13th July 1837 - All the Household Furniture,
China, Glass, Earthenware and other Effects of Mrs. Ann Snasdell who was
retiring from business.
Sold by auction 7th August 1879.
Closed for almost four months to reopen with new owners Saturday, 6th June
1987.
Alterations during closure consisted of installing internal toilets, a new
damp course, central heating, enlarging the car park and removing the wall
between lounge and bar to create one long bar. The one-table pool room
remaining separate.
