On Tuesday, 31st March, 1840, the valuable Brewing
Plant of Mr. Thomas Greengrass was to be Sold by Auction since he was
declining brewing.
The sale included a copper for about 220 gallons, mash tubs, upper and
under becks, coolers, stands, etc. There were about 100 barrels,
half-barrels and 9 gallon casks. A nearly new two-horse dray, a square
cart on iron arms, a useful gig and a clever, powerful bay mare, rising
six years old.......Etc., Etc.
