Licensee William Lake was assaulted by the `notorious character', Henry
Coldham on 12th September 1859. Coldham had entered the house in an
inebriated state and Lake had attempted to remove him, but suffered a broken
leg in the ensuing confrontation. Coldham was fined 5s with £1 costs.
