Situated near the main road at the junction leading to the England's Hope.
When, on 7th January 1850, accused of selling out of hours, John
Stafford said that he had kept a public house for nineteen years and
always kept it open until ten o'clock. He claimed to be unaware that the
four or five persons drinking in the house at eleven o'clock in the
morning were a breaking of the law. The Magistrates did not believe he
was truly ignorant of the law and fined him accordingly.
