In August 1813, James Ashley was occupier of Five
Pieces of Meadow Land, next the road leading from Middleton to Setchey.
The Farming Stock, Implements and part Household Furniture of William
Newman was to be sold at Middleton, by Auction in October 1832 since he was declining
business and leaving his farm. It seems the sale was delayed to 31st
December 1823 when it included 18 Cart Horses plus, Cows and Swine. (Change from farmer to publican?)

With Stabling, Carriage-house and other Outbuildings and a Pightle of
excellent Pasture Land, altogether 3a. 3r. 11p.
