As yet only found in 1858 trades directory. In 1856, Andrew Fountaine, Esq. occupying all the land and Mr. William Moore is his steward - the only two persons mentioned in the parish. In 1863, apart from Andrew Fountaine Esq, only two other people are mentioned, both farmers and one of those actually resides in Swaffham. |
Narford Hall was built by Sir Andrew Fountaine,
who was knighted by William III. He was appointed Warden to the Mint in
1727 and held the position until his death in 1753. Briggs Fountain, died in 1825, aged 82 and was well learned in ancient and modern languages, publishing a translation of Don Quixote. |
