Robert Pashley is given as being at a beer-house,
Ship Yard, in 1836.
On Thursday, 26th October 1854 the Dwelling House and Shop, occupant
Edward Bailey, at an annual rent of £18, was to be sold by auction. The
property consisted of Shop, Front Sitting-room, Tea Room, Four
Bed-rooms, Kitchen, Capital Cellar, Stables, Gig House and Yard.
Location given as The Butchery.
Edward Bailey is given as a Pork Butcher, at the
Butchery in 1858.
On 21st November 1860, 4 lbs of beef were stolen from his shop.
In 1863, 1864, 1865, 1868 and 1872 he is given as a Butcher and Beer Retailer at the
same location.
(Edward Bailey junior is a Carrier in North Walsham
in 1868)
On 11th April 1871, Jane Weston and Edward Rome stole
6d from the till of Edward Bailey.
In 1871, Mr. E. Bailey is age 56
and occupation given
as Butcher and Lodging House Keeper. Wife Sarah is 54 years old.
1875 directory gives him running a Lodging House, at the Butchery.
Sarah Bailey, wife of Edward, died 5th November 1874
- age 71 (error?).
Said to have closed in 1872.
Demolished before 1955.
