Mr. Edward Dent offered To Let, September
1861, his comfortable Residence, well-established Brewery, a
well-erected Steam Corn Mill, a Malting Office of 24 Coombs
Steep, Four enclosures of Arable and Meadow Land, plus Three
well-accustomed Public Houses, known as the "Windmill",
"George & Dragon" and
"Bricklayer's Arms".
On Monday 27th July 1863, the following were
to be sold upon the instructions of Mr. Edward Dent who was
"removing to a distance".
Lot 1. A Cottage and Carpenter's Shop in the occupation of
William Harpley.
2. A piece of Arable Land and Buildings.
3. A brick-built 24 -coomb Steep Malting. (Well adapted to
conversion to Cottages)
4. Four Cottages adjoining the High Street and a piece of
Pasture Land.
5. The Family Residence adjoining the High Street with about
Three Acres.
6. The Mercantile Premises, lately used by the Proprietor as a
Brewery and Flour Mill.
At the instructions of Mr. Edward Dent, on Tuesday 11th August
1868,
the Superior Brewing Plant was to be Sold by Auction.
Included were:-
A capital Copper, with Furnace and Fittings,
Mash Tub with Iron Bottom,
Mashing and Sparging Machine, complete,
Riley's patent block-tin Helical Refrigerator for cooling 8
barrels per hour,
Mash and Working Tuns,
four 32 barrel Vats,
Brass and Lead Pumps,
Indian Rubber, Lead and Iron Piping,
Etc., Etc.,
And a Marquee and other Effects.
