On 18th June
1940 an enemy aircraft dropped a number of bombs between Mr.
Bray's house and Mr. R. T. Cunnington's Fen, two not exploding.
One was a "Whistler" weighing 500 lbs., no trace of the bomb was
found. Three or four days later it was discovered that
sixteen bombs had fallen and had sunk deep into the soggy
ground.
Amongst the Civil Defence Wardens who
attended the search was Mr. Frank Crocker. (Of the King
