Licensee Jeremiah Riches was ordered to pay 6s costs, September 1858, following an accusation made by Mrs. Mary Wilson of an assault on her as she "came after" her husband on 30 August. With much conflicting evidence, Mrs. Wilson was also ordered to pay 6s costs.

Mr. Riches was fined 6d and 7s costs on Monday 4th September 1882 for having allowed a mare to stray on the highway on 29th July.

On Monday 18th March 1901, Jeremiah Riches was ordered to pay 20s, damages and costs, for `stealing' kindling from a wood, the property of Clement Edward Royds Bentley of West Bilney Hall.
"I didn't think I was doing anything wrong and when Mr. Bentley said he would prosecute, I didn't think he meant it".

Referred for Closure by Compensation at the Grimston Adjourned Licensing Session, March 1917.
