A Mr. Gown or Gowen
was said to live at Seven Mile House during the period 1832 - 1836. He was
mentioned in the October 1837 trial of George Lake who had been charged with
stealing a double barrelled shotgun, value £4, from Joseph Harrison of Surlingham. The crime was said to have taken place during February 1832.
Lake was found guilty and sentenced to six months imprisonment.
The report does not say if Seven Mile House was licensed at the time.
Buildings are present on the Tithe Map c1840 , plot marked 104.
Seven Mile House is marked on the 1st edition OS Map, c1880, at
645217.80, 303330.78. Approximately mid way between Reedham and the Berney
Arms.
In 1860, James Burgess is in occupation.
There is no mention of beer.
