Tuesday 19th December 1865 - Fine of £2 2s including costs, for allowing twelve pints of beer to be drunk in his premises, contrary to his licence of off-sale only.
Further fine of 14s 6d including costs, for keeping house open beyond the time allowed by his licence.
Tuesday, 22nd February 1870 - Accused of permitting tossing for gin on 21st December 1869 - Case adjourned pending further evidence.
Tuesday, 15th March 1870 - At the Petty Sessions was fined £5 5s, including costs, for allowing gaming in his house on 21st December 1869.
The representative for Mr. Houchin applied to state a case for the opinion of the Court of the Queens's Bench upon a point of law, to which the magistrates consented.

Benjamin Houchin is listed at Rockland All Saints in 1863 as a baker. In 1865 he is a baker at Rockland St. Peter but given in the trade directory as a beer retailer at Rockland All Saints.
When appearing before the magistrates in December 1865, accused of selling beer on the premises, when his licence was for OFF sale only, his house was said to be at Rockland St. Peter.



Benjamin Houchin applied for licence renewal Tuesday 6th September 1870. Refused.

In 1872, the location of Mr. Houchin  is given as Rockland St. Peter in 1872, a baker and shopkeeper.

The Creditors Meeting of Benjamin Houchin, baker, pork butcher, flour seller, grocer and general shopkeeper was to be held 28th February, 1873.
