On Monday 6th March 1905 it was said that when visited by the
sub-committee of the magistrates on 1st February, it was considered that
the house was unfit for habitation. The house stood within 200 yards of
two other public houses. (Royal Georgian and Jolly Waterman). It was
pointed out that the Royal George indeed 200 or 300 yards distant, but
it was the other side of the river.
The Three Tuns was 150 years old and used by watermen on the river.
Mr. Wenn, owner of the house considered the house to be in a good state
of repair. A damp course had been put in, some three months before the
present tenant, Mr. Phillips arrived.
Mr. Phillips said he had been at the house for ten years and confirmed
that a considerable amount of money had been spent on the house.
Provisional licence granted and fate of the house referred to the
Quarter Sessions.
Monday 12th February 1906 - Licence renewal adjourned for
consideration at the licensing meeting to be held 12th March 1906.
12th March 1906 - Licence provisionally renewed in order that it could
be referred to the compensation authority.
