The Norfolk Chronicle of 10th February 1906 reported that the fate of the house was to be decided at the next Quarter Sessions. It was noted that the population of Saxlingham Nethergate was 520, with 3 Full licences and 3 beer licences. Licensee Richard Baldry advised that he doing a fair trade and was selling over a barrel a week as well as plenty of bottled stuff and did a fair spirit trade. It was said that if Mr. Baldry had no poultry business, there would be no living to be made from the house. Licence renewed 21st June 1906 for want of sworn evidence from Superintendent Eagling that the business was redundant. At the February 1907 Swainsthorpe Brewster Sessions the Magistrates decided that a sufficient case to refuse the licence had not been made. |
