Offered for sale by auction Thursday 23rd August 1849. Described as a Freehold Dwelling-house and Beer Shop, in a good state of repair, possession available 11th October 1849. A charge of threatening language by a Mrs. Overman against Mrs. Louder was settled out of court, with the permission of the Magistrates, Monday 27th October 1851. John Lowder, general dealer, was declared bankrupt in the London gazette on Friday 10th June 1864. Mr. Stratton was fined 5s with costs, on Monday 31st January 1870 having been charged by Weights and Measures Inspector, Superintendent Blomfield, of having four earthenware mugs of defective measure. He was warned that a fine of 5s a mug would be imposed if they appeared again. An application was made Monday 31st August 1874 for a spirit licence. The decision was adjourned until the next Petty Sessions in order that the Parish Rate Book could be studied in order to ascertain the annual value of the property. Temporary licence granted Tuesday 7th February 1905 and licence referred to the Licensing Committee on the grounds of redundancy. It was announced 26th December 1914 that following a claim of £601 16s from the Compensation Authorities, the sum of £575 had been approved.Referred for Compensation 5th January 1915.
