Once known as the BRICKLAYERS ARMS according to Steward & Patteson records.
The CROWN 1790 and 1845
At the Brewster Sessions, Friday 10th February 1905,
when licence renewal was due, a notice of objection was given by the
magistrates, `owing to the
conditions of accessibility of the house for police supervision.'
The police however made no complaint against the house and confirmed
that the they would know if there was any problem since the village
constable lived only half a mile away.
No complaint had ever been heard against the tenant who had been there 43
years.
