Henry Knights is at The Common in 1851 (a Miller & Sawyer)
In 1854 he is given as a corn miller.
First reference as a Beer Retailer is 1856.
In 1861 his address is Workhouse Road.
In 1863 he is listed as Beer Retailer, Coal merchant, Farmer & Miller.

In 1864 and 1865 his address is given at Wayford Bridge
and Francis King is named at this house from 1865.
(Francis King is a porter at the Union Work House in 1861 - age 62) From Police Court records it appears that Henry Knights was back at the house in 1873.

Application made Tuesday 28th August 1882 for a spirit licence - Refused.

Application made Tuesday 24th August 1886 for a wine and spirit licence - Refused.

Application for a wine and spirit licence granted Monday 24th August 1897. But full licence apparently not awarded until Saturday 23rd October 1897 when it was heard that the licence of the White Horse, Sutton, had been given up.


All the Household Furniture and Effects of Mrs. Sergent were For Sale by Auction, Tuesday, 9th October 1900, since she was leaving.


 Address 1925 as Wayford Bridge.

Harry Cox sang his first song in public here when he was about 11, in about 1896. (He was last recorded in 1970 at the age of 85 - a singing career of about 74 years!)
