On 10th October 1786, Robert Griggs, (Junior?) Grocer, Draper, Tea Dealer, &c., thanked his friends in Stibbard for their past favours and advised that he had taken the Shop, late of Mr. David Long of Shipdham. (Died in Dickleburgh, a shopkeeper, September 1843). 30th December 1789 Thomas Dixon, an old offender was charged by Robert Griggs, of Stibbard, shopkeeper, of stealing divers goods, in company of William Bunnett and James Waterson. The latter pair were to be sent to Botany Bay for life. Dixon was to be publicly whipped and kept to hard labour in Walsingham Bridewell for twelve months. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Three new-built Cottages, in the occupation of John Rowbottom, John Colby and Robert Impson were to be sold here, Wednesday, 24th March 1824. A Dwelling House and five Cottages were to be sold here on Monday 16th May, 1825. Mr. Samuel Suggett, Wheelwright, would show the properties. (No indication that he was licensee of the Horseshoes.) Became the KINGS HEAD / ARMS following at sometime after 1828 sale by the Dereham Brewery. However, a sale of three new-built Cottages took place at the Horseshoes, Stibbard, on Monday, 31st October 1831. The properties were in the occupation of Robert Rowbottom, John Rowbottom and Robert Clarke. |
