On Monday 12th February 1883 William Pikett charged the licensee of Outwell BRIDGE, James Hunter of an assault. After somewhat conflicting evidence about ill-feeling between parties in the house, it was confirmed  that Hunter had been hit by Pikett with a piece of wood but it was considered self- defence.
