November 1885. Mrs. Groom, of the Hare & Hounds, Stow Corner, offered a £1 reward for return of a silver Geneva watch, lost in Downham or Wimbotsham. The item was engraved HG on the outside and H Groom on the inside. Not identified in early census returns, but open by 1872. August 1895 - Messrs. Elijah Eyre & Co offered the house To Let, from Michaelmas. With 3 Acres of Land attached. October 1900 - Offered the house To Let, from 11th October, with 3 Acres of Land attached.
