Included within Lot No. 1 in sale by order of the Trustees of the late John Morse Esq. held 8th & 9th September 1847. The property included :- Parlour, 2 Kitchens, Cellar, & 2 Bedrooms - with Yard & Outbuildings On Monday 28th May 1888, labourer James Thwaites of Swaffham was accused by Mary Ann Purse of an assault. Thwaites had entered the beerhouse at between 10 and 11 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday 22nd May in the company of men named Carter and Row. Thwaites was said to have thrown his beer to the floor and rushed at Mrs Purse saying that he would cripple her and even that he would kill her. Mrs. Purse went upstairs until her husband came home. Thwaites claimed that he was refused service and that he had gone to the back kitchen to retrieve some money belonging to him. He denied using such language quoted.
