The sign - 1995
Cottage dating from pre 1725.
At the annual Licensing Meeting, Monday 2nd February 1925, the ingoing
tenant, Stanley Denny (an ex grocer), was advised by one of the
magistrates that "there was not a living to be made from the house".
Mr. Denny replied that he was happy with half a living and the licence
was transferred to him.
Once nicknamed the ` SENTRY BOX ' for its compactness.
