Situated on crossroads overlooking Bradenham Heath.
From Faden's 1797 map it would appear to provide fine views of the Gibbet
opposite.
Shown on Bryant's 1826 map.
January 1870 - The Wild West Bradenham.
During the first week of January 1870, a
ten-year-old boy named James Jessop entered the house and took up a loaded
gun, which was standing at one corner of the room. He called for the
daughter of Mr. Mendham, who was upstairs. She came down and he fired the
gun, completely smashing the wall and scattering the contents all over
her; had she been two steps forward, she would have been killed. The boy
was driven backwards by the force of the barrel bursting about four inches
from the muzzle end.
Location as `In the Dell' 1915
Closed 1957 and licence held by S&P.
