Robert Brunton of the Ostrich Inn was described as a Farmer, Blacksmith and Licensed Victualler, having a shop at Wootton as a blacksmith only. On the 30th March 1863 the Court acting in the prosecution of a Petition for Adjudication of Bankruptcy, did grant the said Bankrupt an order of Discharge.

The tenancy of James Ewer was terminated Michaelmas 1914 owing to his rent arrears. October 1915 - He owed the brewery £27 12s 6d for goods supplied and had several other debts. His deficiency in assets was £213 1s 10d.
