For Sale by Auction Monday, 16th September 1844. Lot 1. Freehold Public House and Land - with 4 Acres 1 Rood (More or Less) of Rich pasture Land adjoining. Lots 2, 3 & 4 being Arable Land. In occupation of Mr. George Cutting and his undertenants, under Notice to Quit on 11th October 1844. Lot 5. being land in occupation of Mr. Orford. Lot 6. being Five Tenements. ~ It was reported 28th February and again 7th March 1846 that six waggons had started from the Sportsman and raced three abreast. Leaving West Winch they had proceeded at a furious rate, to the great danger of the lives of any one they met on the road. Measures were sought to lessen the evil. ~ For Sale by Auction Tuesday, 23rd September 1856. With over 4 Acres of Rich Arable and Pasture Land. In occupation of Robert Storey, who had Notice to Quit at Michaelmas. (Mr. Storey was still at he house June 1857 since he had 12 Ewes and 17 Lambs which had apparently strayed on 10th June. The owner could retrieve them upon describing marks and paying reasonable expenses.) ~ Matthew Cressy filed for bankruptcy 15th September 1863. His hearing was to be held on 20th November 1863. ~ Original house closed before October 1973 Rebuilt - reopened Wednesday 24th July 1974
