At a drinking competition held in Wroxham in the week of 21st July 1810, one contestant drank 44 half-pints of porter in 55 minutes. His opponent defeated him by supping 52 half-pints in the same time. The winner then finished off a further 5 half-pints before taking to his rowing boat to return home to Horning. The loser paid for the porter.
