Unlicensed houses
were kept in 1665 by widows Anfillis Lacy and Elizabeth Patten.
It was
recorded that in 1901 the population was 840 By 1921 it was 1,432. On Monday 14th February 1927, an application to licence new premises was
refused on the grounds that West Runton had developed because it was a
charming locality for visitors. A push down the slippery slope to
Yarmouth should be prevented by the justices. One Yarmouth was
sufficient for Norfolk.
