Timothy Meachen received a warning from the magistrates on Friday 2nd September 1864 following a fine that had been imposed `a few months previously' for allowing ale to be drunk in his house during illegal hours, on a Sunday. Closed May 1989 with licensee William Chapman, age 67, having been at the house for 37 years. His wife, Doris had died three years earlier.
