Charles Edward Green, aged 57, was found hanging in the cellar, on the morning of 31st May 1911. It appeared that he had earlier fallen down the cellar steps and had injured his head. At the inquest, the same day, it was heard that he had suffered, for considerable time past, sleeplessness, loss of memory and pains in the head.
Verdict - "Suicide while temporarily insane".

177 barrels of beer sold in the final year of trading.

Closed 16th November 1965

In 1961 the BYSTANDERS FILM CLUB commenced a survey of Norwich public houses.
Unfortunately, by 1968 the challenge remained unfinished and Watney Mann had taken over the local breweries....Toilet facilities (Conveniences) were rated on cleanliness and general standard.
This house was rated as follows:-

S&P   No Draught Cider
Darts   Conveniences 3 (5 being the best)
Canned Music
This must be one of the most lively pubs in the city, hardly an evening passes without a darts match being played.
Home matches are best, for when the team plays away, all the regulars make a night of it and leave the place empty!
Very genial friendly atmosphere aided by free sandwiches at 10 ish.
