Found from 1822. Offered for sale by Auction Saturday 19th February 1831. Described as `Old Established'. Commanding a good business, with outbuildings, yard and appurtenances, then in occupation of Mr. Miller. Leasehold under the Dean and Chapter of Norwich, upon a renewable lease, subject to a trifling yearly acknowledgement, or rent charge and let to Mr. Samuel Holl on a lease to expire 1st January 1836. For sale by Auction again on Wednesday 22nd June 1831. In occupation of Robert Miller and described as having a parlour, kitchen, bar, wash-house, large cellar, excellent dining-room, chamber, attics, good yard and other conveniences. The lease from the Dean and Chapter being then described as for 40 years, subject to renewal every 14 years. Listed in 1845 as the CARPENTERS ARMS Licence renewed at Sessions held 19th August 1862. One of several houses where the licensee had been proceeded against during the year. The offences, for which summonses had been issued were either for selling beer out of hours, for allowing gambling or for permitting persons of bad character to assemble. (Exact misdemeanour at this house not specified in report.) Edward Blyth made an application, on Monday 24th August 1891, for a music and singing licence - Refused.
