John Riches was fined 20s and 7s 6d costs on Tuesday 16th November 1843.
He had been found guilty of harbouring disorderly characters in his
		house.
On the previous night P.C. Havers had entered the premises in search of
thieves where he found that " a crowd of the worst characters and prostitutes
had collected ". They abused the constable and were assisted by the owner
		of the house, Mr. Riches.
The house was said to be one of the worst in the city.
