Note: In 1839 Pigot gives Mr Curtis at the Edinburgh Castle, St Benets Church Walk, but Robson has him as a beer retailer in Magdalen Street. It is assumed that he moved to the Edinburgh Castle from the Magdalen Street business at the time the directories were being compiled. In 1841 he is recorded as a publican in Back Lane, Heigham, but the house is not named.
