It was reported Saturday 16th May 1846 that Mr. Haslep, who kept
a beerhouse, called the Flying Dutchman in Heigham, and who
attended fairs with a swinging-boat, had lately been robbed of
£35.
The money had been buried in his cellar, and a thief, presumably
with knowledge of the hiding place, had broken in a few nights
previously and committed the theft.
A man named David Houghton had been charged with the offence.
