Formerly the ROPEMAKERS to 1975.
Reopened as the JAMES I in 1975.

Closed 6th April 2008.

Mostly demolished 2011 with only front facade surviving.
Rebuilt as multiple accommodation.
The "White" beer guide of 1977 records:-
A Freehouse.

Bass Charrington - Bass and BB on handpumps.
Tolly Cobbold - Bitter, Cantab and Old on handpumps.

Recently redecorated one bar pub on the city outskirts.
Previously the Ropemakers' Arms, an early victim of the current fad of changing pub names for changes' sake,
(Although why anyone would want to name a pub after this dreadful anti-drinking monarch is beyond comprehension.)
