The inquest into the death of 30 year old James Norris was held here 7th September 1728.
The deceased had entered a public house, obtained a pint of beer and mixed with it what he had called bitters. He then drank the potion, which he said was enough to poison ten horses.
Verdict "Non compos mentis".
