On Friday 2nd April 1886, Justices Denman and Cave heard accusations of illegal or corrupt practices in the Elections. It was said that licensee Rushmer had treated men in his own house and declared "Empty your glasses and have a drink with me, and plump for Bullard." Mr. Rushmer denied saying anything of the kind and Justice Denman said that he had not believed the witness, Mr. Wright, from the beginning. One S&P document states that the licence was transferred to the MANOR HOUSE 1925 and the property sold 1934. A further S&P document records that the Spirit Licence was given up in 1911 and that the (Beer) licence was transferred to the MANOR HOUSE in 1926. The Licence Register gives a date of 04.01.1927 when the Order was declared final for the Provisional Removal of licence to a new house and premises at the corner of Mile Cross Road and Drayton Road. Sign changed to MANOR HOUSE. House no. 235 on 1845 Magistrates list |
