			 Mentioned 1852 and as found in Melville's 1856 directory. Location given in 1852 as near Postall's Yard, near St James Church. William Thomas Cutmore, a beer retailer at Cowgate, 1846 In 1851 William Cutmore is given as a Woolcomber aged 26. The same occupation is given for him in 1861. In both instances he is living at Cowgate Street, St Martin at Palace Ivan Mazeppa was a Ukrainian seeking to free the Cossacks from Tsarist rule. He died in 1709. Tchaikovsky (b 1840 - d 1893) composed an opera celebrating the life
      of Mazeppa.  |
